ACADEMIC ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEON SCIENTIST POSITIONS – BIOMECHANICS AND ADVANCED CLINICAL SCIENCES                              

The Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Ottawa invites applications for three full-time academic orthopaedic surgeon scientist positions.

(1) Two positions in Hand and Wrist surgery with an emphasis in acute tendon and bony injuries as well as complex reconstruction.   The candidate will join a busy academic group with two other surgeons of similar interests and skills in the Division of Plastic Surgery as part of the Combined Hand/Wrist Ottawa Program (CHWOP) at The Ottawa Hospital.

(2) One position in Hip and Knee arthroplasty with special interest in peri-prosthetic joint infection. The candidate will join 7 other surgeons as part of the adult reconstruction service at The Ottawa Hospital.

(3) One position in Pediatric Orthopaedics based at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

We are seeking orthopaedic surgeons with:

(1) Advanced expertise in in vitro biomechanics:  in collaboration with Carleton University, one candidate will lead our Advanced Orthopaedic Biomechanics Laboratory (AOBL), a 2500 ft2 state of the art facility adjacent to the University of Ottawa Skills and Simulation Center.

or  

(2) Expertise in Clinical Outcomes Research: masters or PhD level degrees. 

The candidates will have completed a successful residency in orthopaedic surgery in Canada or the United States and be eligible for licensure in Ontario, Canada. They will have also completed at least a one-year subspecialty fellowship and will also have shown an interest in teaching at the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels.
