Akron Children’s Hospital has an outstanding opportunity for a Chair of the Department of Pediatric Orthopedics! The Chair will work collaboratively with Administration, clinical staff and the elected Medical Staff and Leadership teams to achieve the enterprise’s strategic vision, objectives and operating goals. The ideal candidate will have outstanding leadership and management capabilities with excellent clinical expertise and experience. A demonstrated track record of results and fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion with a team of faculty, staff, residents and students is a key requirement. The incumbent will have completed a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery Fellowship and will be Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery with a minimum of 10 years of clinical experience.  The physician leader will be able to acquire an active medical license in the State of Ohio and will pursue academic appointment at the rank of Associate or full Professor at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED).  

He/she will be responsible for the continuing growth of the Department by ensuring that the fundamentals of extraordinary quality, efficiency and disciplined financial management are in place. The Chair will develop and define a vision for the Department, implement quality of care initiatives, supervise departmental educational activities, and implement hospital strategies as required.

The practice is an academic/clinical style practice with strong subspecialty programs and research collaboration with local universities. There are currently 11 Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeons and 11 Advance Practice Providers in the Department. The volume of surgical cases in 2019 was 2,715 complimented by 38,731 ambulatory visits. The group also provides Pediatric Orthopedic training for 7 residency programs.
