Chair, Orthopaedic and Rheumatologic Institute
The Cleveland Clinic, a distinguished academic healthcare system, announces its search for Chair of the Orthopaedic Rheumatologic Institute (ORI) which is a flagship program in our System.
The ORI consists of three departments: 1) Orthopaedic Surgery 2.) Rheumatology and 3.) Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The clinical activities of the ORI are conducted at the Cleveland Clinic’ s main campus, as well as the Cleveland Clinic Health System regional hospitals and freestanding multispecialty outpatient facilities. The ORI maintains close interactions and collaborations with the Orthopaedic and Rheumatology Centers at Cleveland Clinic Florida and the Orthopaedic and Rheumatologic Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
The ORI Institute currently has 117 physicians. The Institute also provides extraordinarily comprehensive and extensive experience in research and knowledge development. The current research portfolio includes nearly 90 research activities, 250 publications in 2017, and over $9M/each year in direct funding from corporate, federal and internally funded studies. ORI is an active teaching center with residents as well as fellowships in Orthopaedics, Podiatry, Rheumatology and MSK- PMR.
Duties and responsibilities of the new Chair will be to provide leadership for the Institute which will include oversight of general operations, organization, fiduciary matters, quality and safety, recruitment, retention and mentoring of medical staff, administrators, educators and researchers. The Chair is responsible for the extremely important academic and research mission of the Institute.
The Institute Chair will be a physician leader with impressive credentials who reports to the Cleveland Clinic Chief of Staff and has the ability and desire to implement and support the strategic mission of the Cleveland Clinic Health System. The ideal candidate will be a servant leader with a record of excellence in clinical support activities, education, and scholarship as well as laudable experience in leadership, administration, mentoring, and program development.
