The Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine is seeking an outstanding, experienced, academic physician to serve as the new Division Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedics (Hershey, PA). This is an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic academic leader to directly shape the long-term vision and growth of this vibrant division. The Division Chief will also assume the role as Medical Director of the Pediatric Bone and Joint Clinic.

As the leader of a division delivering cutting edge Pediatric Orthopaedic treatment and research, the Chief must be strategically and operationally focused to guide the division to the next level through the advancement of clinical programs, education, and research while continuing to meet and exceed national standards of excellence. We seek a Chief who understands and fosters an academic environment. He/She will be responsible for the growth and advancement of research, scholarly activity and teaching excellence of the division, continuing to raise the bar on medical education and developing an even stronger commitment to research efforts within the division.

The Chief will have the demonstrated ability to effectively inspire, manage, mentor and galvanize a culturally diverse faculty and staff. This position requires a thorough understanding of the healthcare environment, both regionally and nationally, a vision for the growth of clinical services, as well as an ability to collaborate with other leaders across Penn State College of Medicine (PSCOM), Milton S. Hershey Medical Center (MSHMC) and Penn State Health to effectively formulate strategy, build market share and allocate resources.

We seek candidates with prior administrative and leadership experience and strong interpersonal and communication skills to complement a passion for excellence and achievement. We also seek candidates with a proven track record of education, scholarship, and/or research productivity. Candidates must hold a medical doctorate degree, board-certification in Orthopaedic Surgery and fellowship trained in Pediatric Orthopaedics or equivalent and possess qualifications for appointment to the faculty of Penn State at the Associate Professor or Professor Level Academic Rank.

 The successful candidate will be an individual who has a passion for providing outstanding clinical care, a desire to improve systems and processes to maximize efficiency, the leadership to engage faculty and hold them accountable and an enduring commitment to provide an environment conducive to enhancing education.
