The Division of Orthopaedic Surgery in the Sprott Department of Surgery at University Health Network and the University of Toronto are inviting applications for the position of an academic Orthopaedic Surgeon. This is a full-time faculty appointment.

The effective date of this appointment is February 28, 2021.

We seek a fully licensed surgeon scientist with fellowship training in adult joint reconstruction and restoration surgery. The candidate must be proficient in managing patients with hip and knee arthritis, deformity, instability as well as provide management of fracture and trauma patients.

The successful candidate will be appointed as a surgeon-scientist and must have a PhD in regenerative medicine with a focus on stem cells and cell therapeutics. Ideally, the candidate will have basic science expertise to establish a successful independently funded peer-reviewed basic science research program. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research is also required. The successful candidate should ideally possess strong leadership skills, professionalism and an ability to work in a team. The candidate must be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor at the University of Toronto and be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

The Division of Orthopaedic Surgery is comprised of 12 full-time clinical faculty members offering comprehensive clinical care within the UHN Schroeder Arthritis Institute at Toronto Western Hospital in the areas of upper and lower extremity reconstruction, sports medicine, hip and knee arthroplasty, foot and ankle and spine surgery.

Compensation package will consist of a combination of fee for service model using the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) and academic salary support commensurate with qualifications and experience. An academic start-up package will be provided to support the successful candidate as a scientist in the Buchan Arthritis Research Centre and Krembil Research Institute.
