The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking a fellowship-trained clinician to serve as the Vice Chair of Clinical Research. Reporting to the Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery and working collaboratively with departmental, divisional, and research leadership, the Vice Chair of Clinical Research will be responsible for planning, organizing, and advancing the mission of the department of Orthopaedic Surgery’s clinical research portfolio. The Vice Chair is charged with improving, growing and communicating all research efforts of the department. The individual will serve in an advisory capacity to the Department Chief regarding such issues as funding, space and equipment, resource allocation, scientific staff promotions, research policies and procedures, academic and industry collaborations, and research commercialization, amongst others. The Vice Chair is expected to be a resource and potential advisor to all faculty and trainees. Candidates must be an experienced clinician-scientist with a demonstrated record of academic excellence, high quality scientific productivity, and intellectual commitment to clinical research in the field of surgery, with a strong focus on orthopaedic surgery. The candidate must have a minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role related to orthopaedic research, have a current and active personal research portfolio that includes grant awards, and continued part time clinical activity. Experience as a Deputy Editor or Associate Editor at a peer-reviewed, leading academic orthopaedic journal is desirable.
